Chapter  1
The sun rose upon a lone male Coelophysis. For many miles, he had wandered in search of a new home territory he could reside in. The Coelophysis made his way up a rise in the earth and stopped. Right before his eyes was a valley. He cocked his head as he gave the valley a quick look over.
“Hmm, seems like a good place to start my new life.” He said to himself.
The Coelophysis, soon after saying that, made his way towards the valley.
……
As the Coelophysis wandered further inward, he came across a river. Once it caught his eye, he stopped for a moment before approaching the river bank. The Coelophysis took a quick look around. He then lowered his head to water and began to drink.
“Hmm?”
The Coelophysis ceased his drinking when he caught a scent. Jerking his head up, he glanced back. The sound of approaching dinosaurs was heard. The Coelophysis shifted his body sideways as the sounds came closer, then dashed off for the cover of the forest. As he remained hidden, he waited for signs of the approaching dinosaurs.
Soon, one by one, the dinosaurs revealed themselves as a small group of Hypsilophodons. Within the group were six adults, two males and four females, and two juveniles.
The Coelophysis watched with interest as the Hypsilophodons approached the edge of the river. Softly, his stomach growled, reminding the small predator of his hunger. He took a quick glance to his stomach, then returned his attention back to the Hypsilophodons, who had begun to drink.
“That’s right,” The Coelophysis thought “ I haven’t eaten anything for a couple days. But, at least, I got a chance to make a kill.”
The Coelophysis then began to stalk the Hypsilophodons.
“Now let’s just see if I’m able to catch one.”
The Coelophsis licked his jaws as each step brought him closer to his prey. A couple of the Hypsilophodons had lifted their heads to check their surroundings before drinking once again.
“That’s it. Just a little closer.” The Coelophsis thought before licking his jaws again “ A little closer. Almost within range.”
Suddenly, The Coelophsis’ eyes grew wide when he stepped on a fallen branch, creating a loud SNAP! The Hypsilophodons almost immediately jerked their heads in alarm. The Small predator had paused when his prey started to look around. Then, after a brief moment, the Hypsilophodons started to move away from the river bank and turn to head into the forest.
“No!” The Coelophysis thought “They’re leaving!”
The small predator growled. It was now or never. The Coelophsis charged forward, mouth opened in a snarl. Upon seeing him, the Hypsilophodons cried out in alarm and darted in the opposite direction. The small predator snapped his jaws, but his prey avoided them as they disappeared into the cover of the forest.  The Coelophysis gave chase, but stopped shortly afterward.
“Great. Just great.” The Coelophysis growled to himself “My first chance of a meal as a solitary hunter…and I just blew.”
The Coelophysis sighed before trotting away “Oh well, I might as well continue on. I’ll have more opportunities.”
……
After trekking a few more meters inward, the wind blew, peaking the Coelophysis’ interest with a familiar scent: a recent kill. Without a second thought, he raced through the forest, following his nose to the source of the scent.
When he finally reached it, he had found a partially eaten carcass of a hadrosaur.  His stomach growled at the sight, and he licked his jaws. The Coelophysis then noticed the bite marks, and almost immediately knew what had killed the hadrosaur: a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Cautiously, he started to approach the carcass, looking left to right for any sign of the larger carnivore, before taking his first bite from the kill.
……
Nearby, the same T-rex was napping against the base of a tree after he had consumed most of his kill. The sound of growling caused the great predator to stir. Slowly opening his eyes, The T-rex rose his massive head off the ground and looks over to the carcass. He blinked once or twice once he saw a Coelophsis ravenously consuming the flesh from his kill.
The T-rex opened his jaws in a silent yawn. He then used his tiny arms to lifted his chest off the ground. Then, very slowly, he stood up on his powerful legs. The T-rex gave himself a quick shake before walking over to the feeding Coelophysis. He stopped once he was just behind the Coelophysis and began to look him over. He smirked.
“You know it’s actually considered rude to eat from someone else’s kill without asking permission first.” The T-rex said.
The Coelophysis jumped, quickly turning to face the larger predator. He was unable to keep himself from shaking in fear as he stared up at the mighty tyrannosaur.
“Relax. I’m not going to kill you. I’m still a little full anyway, so eat as much as you want. But next time, ask first, okay?”
The Coelophysis was hesitant at first, but eventually gave the tyrannosaur a nod of thanks. With a quick glance at the T-rex, he returned to feasting on the carcass.
“It’s been a long time since another male Coelophysis came upon this territory.” The T-rex stated as he looked off to the distant mountains. He then returned his attention back to the Coelophysis.
“So. What’s your name?”
The Coelophysis swallowed a mouthful of meat before answering “Troy. My name’s Troy.”
“Troy, huh? Well Troy, my name is Rexander. Pleasure to meet you.” Rexander greeted “I take it you’re here to challenge for control of a resident Coelophysis pride.”
Troy, after swallowing another mouthful of meat, jerked his head up to Rexander. Rexander could see that there were hope in the Coelophysis’ eyes.
“Yes, that’s right!” Troy replied, a smile spread on his jaws “ Is there a pride here?”
The tyrannosaur nodded “Indeed there is.”
“Could you...could you take me to them?”
Rexander thought for a moment. He glanced at Troy then looked to the distant mountains. He sighed.
“Alright. I’ll take you to them.” He finally replied with a smirk.
“Alright!” The Coelophysis cried as he leapt with excitement.
“Just promise you won’t do that again.” Rexander said before he began to walk away.
“Hey, wait a moment!” Troy called out before quickly wolfing down a few more bites. Then he rushed after the T-rex.
“You know Rexander,” Troy said as he walked by the tyrannosaur’s side “ I believe this could be the start of a beautiful friendship.”
Rexander chuckled “Oh, is that so? Well, we’ll see about that.”
The paired continued on, unaware that a bond between them was already forming.
My first chapter for my dinosaur story, the meeting of two of my main characters: Rexander and Troy.
Hope you like it
